Dimash Kudaibergen - Thousands of Miles

I find it uplifting when a nation despite its own developments in different areas pays attention to the value of the past. One of these values is the traditional culture, e.g. music, literature or fine arts.
So in my opinion it is exemplary what this Chinese TV show does: draws the attention of the younger generation to the ancient poetry with the help of music.

Thousands of Miles is a poem about two friends. One of them has a long way to go, but they know that the distance will be only physical; their spiritual closeness will remain because of the friendship.

This has an extended meaning as well. There is a friendship between countries and nations, they are far from each other, but there are envoys bringing them together. Between China and Kazakhstan this envoy is the Kazakh Dimash, who sings the Chinese poem in the original language, but brings the traditional Kazakh instrument, the dombra into the song.

If I were a poet I would love to know that there are young artists who understand the meaning of my lyrics so they can deliver the message of my poem.
Dimash is obviously this kind of young artist and I am grateful to listen to his music every time, everywhere. Also Dimash as an artist shows that there are no borders between people and there are no limits in friendship beyond borders.

A Thousands of Miles (Mérföldek ezrei) című vers két barátról szól.
