Eurovízió 2017, a győztes... - Eurovision 2017, the winner is...

This year was the one for years, when I didn't listen to the contestants' songs. I didn't looking for surprise; actually I had no time or mood for it. I just searched opinions about the Hungarian song here and there. So I listened to all of the songs in the grand finale, and I have to say I was not impressed...I am still not impressed at all.

This year the slogan of the Eurovision has been "Celebrate Diversity", which is totally mediocre, it can actually be empty, but at the same time it can be filled with numerous contents.
For me it would mean in a pan-European song contest, that all of the countries bring their own musical traditions and cultures and own native languages, and they actually show the many beauty of the music that is universal language of the humankind. In my opinion it didn't succeed this time apart from few exceptions. Without prejudice Pápai Joci's Origo was one of the rare exceptions last night that has been complied with the slogan, if I follow my contexture 😃
But of course it is enough if we think of the meaning of the slogan as the songs represent the layers of the human soul, the joy, sadness, enthusiasm and exhilaration. So, no need to be displeased, right?

There were many strong and/or beautiful female voices in the finale, for example I liked the contestant of UK or Belgium, and the young Australian boy's song and voice has been good as well. But there was one song only that I had to listen to eagerly from its very first notes with a big smile on my face, because it enchanted me totally. This Portuguese song (Amar Pelos Dois) filled me melancholic, calming, warm feelings, and the performer, Salvador Sobral's unique, simple but expressive delivery kind of intensified all of these feelings. It has differed from the other songs, it has been unique like Pápai Joci's Hungarian-Romany song, or the Romanian yodel, or the Croatian pop vs classical combo. They say that Salvador who has been waiting for heart transplantation, but he can state one thing for sure: his heart is full of music.

For me it is not surprise that Portugal has been the winner this year and will organize the Eurovision in 2018. Maybe because once in the history of the Eurovision song contest my own taste matches with the will of Europe and this is standalone 😃 Congratulations to Salvador, and of course to Pápai Joci for place 8th!
